The 13th annual Kid’s Classic Golf Tournament was held Saturday at Cambrian Ridge and according to tournament organizers, the event was a success.

“It was a good year,” William Martin, tournament director, said.

The tournament, which is sponsored by the Greenville Area Jaycees, is a fundraiser that helps raise money that is used by the Jaycees to purchase Christmas presents for foster children in the area.

Last year, the tournament genereated enough funds for the Jaycees to purchase presents for 28 children.

The money is also used to help with other needs throughout the year, such as the purchase of school supplies.

“This tournament is really all about the kids,” Martin said on Saturday.

“We appreciate everyone coming out and supporting this tournament so we can help the kids, and we hope you will come out again next year.”

Final figures for the fundraiser have not yet been calculated, but 27 teams particpated in the event, which was played  in a three-person scramble format.

Hunter Grimes, Rick Bourne and Jeff Sellers claimed first place in the event.

Steve Norman, Zac Little and Hunter Barrow finished second, while Clint Lowery, Marshall Watts and Joe Watts earned a third-place finish.
