A 19-year-old has been arrested  for the murder of an elderly Fort Deposit woman.

Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams said Roman Salinas, 19, originally from Montgomery, was arrested for the murder of Clydemae Thomas, 68, of Fort Deposit on Thursday.

Williams said Thomas was found dead in her home at 105 Bishop St. inside the city limits of Fort Deposit Thursday by her grandson.

He said the case was being investigated by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department, the Fort Deposit Police Department and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation Public Safety Division.

Williams said Salinas was arrested on Thursday and charged Friday.

He said the case remains under investigation.
