GHS student recognized for academic excellence

Greenville High School student, Santana Long, 17, has been selected as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). The Society awards top scholars and only invites those with academic excellence to join its ranks. Currently, there are more than 500,000 Society members in over 160 countries, with NSHSS offering scholarship opportunities to these young people.
In the fall of 2009, Santana entered the Creative Communication’s Poets Contest and was selected as one of high merit and her poem “A Smile” was published in “A Celebration of Poets.” In 2010, Santana excelled in the Greenville High School Chorus, performing in All-State Choir and receiving an Outstanding Service Award. She participated in the National Youth Choir performance at Carnegie Hall and received a Certificate from Conductor Jeffrey Ames. Santana was also awarded Certificates of Achievement from the Butler County Board of Education for each of these accomplishments
In May 2010 Santana became a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society and also the National English Honor Society at GHS. This May she was honored for her outstanding grades with an A/B Honor Roll Certificate.
Santana is the daughter of Todd & Teresa Long and her guardian grandparents are Terry and Ann Blackwell.
