Two high school football players and a coach will represent Butler County in the AHSAA North-South All-Star Football Game scheduled Thursday, July 14 at 7 p.m. at Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl.

Jody Halford (6-2, 290) of McKenzie and Anthony McMeans (6-3, 260) of Greenville were each named to the South squad for the annual game featuring selections from high schools across the state.

McKenzie’s Miles Brown joins the South roster as an assistant coach. Brown led the Tigers to a 10-1 record in 2010 and the Class 1A Region 2 championship.

“Being selected is an honor,” Brown said. “It’s really a reflection on my current and former players and assistant coaches. It’s because of them.”

Brown said he was looking forward to joining Halford and McMeans for the all-star contest along with his sixth-grade son, William, who was selected as a manager for the South team.

The football game is part of All-Star Sports Week July 11-15 in Montgomery. In addition to a coaching school and awards banquets, all-star contests will be held in baseball, softball, boys and girls soccer, volleyball and boys and girls basketball.

The North won last year’s game played at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville 14-7.
