Margie (Mrs. Candy) Lewis passed away on February 11, 2011. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at noon from Pine Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Sanders officiating. Burial followed in Hickory Grove Cemetery with Hudson Funeral services of Greenville directing. She was born June 27, 1914 in Greenville to the late Dempsey and Lola Bruner and was educated in the Greenville School System.
Margie was united in holy matrimony to the late Robert Lewis Sr. for 45 years and from this union they were blessed with four children.
She united with Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where she was a faithful usher and member for many years until her health failed. She received several certificates for her spiritual services. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter, Rosa Lee Simpson, sisters, Mattie Lee Hamilton, Dorothy Thompson and brother, Charles Bruner. Margie’s loving memory will be cherished by her devoted, committed children, Ella Mae Wilson, Rev. Robert (Christine) Lewis, and Thomas (Geraldine) Lewis, all of Greenville; thirteen grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Elnora Marlowe, Chicago; brother-in-law, Eddie (Pearleen) Lewis, Birmingham; two sister-in-law, Ella )Robert) White, Birmingham, Risie Neil (Eddie) Pugh, Greenville; brother-in-law Robert Hamilton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
