Ancestor of a legendary ‘desperado’
The Advocate offices received a visit from John Hipp and his wife Kathy this week.
Hipp is a resident of Chattanooga, Tenn. and is the namesake and great grandson of John Hipp, one of the legendary bandits who partnered with Charles Kelley during a crime spree in 1891.
Many Butler County residents are familiar with the photo captured of Hipp and Kelley hanging in the front of the old county courthouse.
