New coach, new concern for McKenzie

McKenzie heads north to face Autaugaville on Friday night. The Eagles, a team that was vying for Class 1A state championships a few years ago, has fallen on hard times recently, going 9-21 over the last four seasons including back-to-back three-win campaigns.

Tigers’ head coach Miles Brown, though, expects Autaugaville to be well-prepared on Friday. The school hired Antonio Richards as head coach in the offseason. Richards previously served as offensive line coach for Prattville and was part of a staff that won three straight state titles in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

“I’m very familiar with Coach Richards and how hard he works so I know we’re in for a challenge,” said Brown.
