GPRD hosts track meet Saturday

Greenville Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual city track meet on Saturday at the Greenville High School campus.
The event will start at 9 a.m. at the school track located on the north side of GHS.
It is part of the Hershey’s Track and Field games and will also serve as this year’s District 6 track meet. It is open to boys and girls ages nine to 14 years of age. The cutoff date for age is Dec. 31, 2010.
Winners at the city and district level will advance to the state meet which will also be held in Greenville on May 15. Winners at that level will be entered into a pool and become eligible for selection to a regional team which will travel to Hershey, Penn., to compete in the North American Finals on Aug. 7.
Events include 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, 1600 meter run, the 4 X 100 relay, standing longjump, and softball throw. Participants can enter up to three events including two track events and one field event.
