Agriculture and farming are big industries in Crenshaw County, so it should be no surprise that a strong crowd was on hand to meet Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries candidate Dorman Grace in Luverne on Thursday.

Grace explained that his first-hand experience in agriculture makes him a strong candidate for the position.

“I’m a third-generation farmer, and I farmed for 32 years after I earned an ag degree from Auburn,” he said.

Grace is also the former director and past president of the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association, and he served for six years on the Alabama Agriculture and Industries Board.

“We need someone that understands agriculture and can explain to people in urban areas how important it is,” he said. “We don’t need more regulations or more taxes. We have good people in place, and we need to let them do their job.”

Grace is running as a republican and has been endorsed by the Alabama Farmers Federation.
