The Greenville High Tigers baseball team trampled Wilcox last Friday and Saturday.
GHS came out on top winning the first 20-0 and the second 12-5.
Coach Brad Horn said his Tigers got ahead early in both games.
“The first game, we scored 8 runs in the first inning,” Horn said. “And in the second game, we scored 10 runs in the first.”
Horn said the early lead let him play some players deep in his lineup.
“We pitched some guys who haven’t got to pitch much, gave some younger guys some work,” Horn said. “We didn’t want to put our main guys out there and risk them getting hurt.”
Raymond Moody picked up the win on the mound for the first game. Moody pitched 3 innings, faced 10 batters and struck out 8.
Horn said a lot of his players were hitting the ball good.
Nathan Branum went 3 for 3 and Raymond Moody batted 2 for 2. Stewart Moody went 2 for 3 and grabbed 6 RBIS, 3 of which came from a third-inning grand slam.
Game two offered Nathan Branum a chance to pick up the win. At the plate, Ryan Smith, Hunter Harrell and Raymond Moody batted for 3.
Horn said his substitutes stepped up when he needed them to.
“Brandon Smith made his first start of the year and got a big hit and several runs,” Horn said. “Paul Hartley struck out seven batters on the mound. He will be a big part of the team come next year.”
The Tigers play their next game tonight at Highland Home.
