Fort Dale’s bats got hot and stayed hot during Monday’s region double-header.

The Eagles defeated Hooper 14-0 and 13-0.

Coach Josh Beverley had nothing but positive things to say about his Eagles.

“We are throwing and fielding the ball well,” Beverley said. “We’ve only made one error in four games.”

Beverley said rising to the competition would only get you so far.

“We don’t worry about who we are playing,” Beverley said. “Its all about how we are playing.”

The Eagles seem to have hit an offensive stride. Beverley says the team has scored 73 runs in the past five games.

Todd Burkett picked up the win for the first game, pitching five innings and giving up only one hit.

Skylar McKeown pitched the second game, striking out 10 and giving up two hits.

Sophomore Connally Walters helped the Eagle offense start off right in the first game. Walters batted 3-for-4 and had five RBIs.

McKeown went 5-for-9 in the double-header. A third-inning grand slam in the second game helped him rack up 9 RBIs for the day.

Dustin Till added insult to injury, grabbing a two-run homer in the second game.

Beverley said now his team will prepare for the Macon East tournament this weekend.

The Eagles will play a region game versus Macon East at 10 a.m. Friday. FDA will go on to play a round robin later in the day on Friday and a single-elimination tournament on Saturday.
