Lady Eagles swept at Hooper Tournament

Scarlett Anderson and her Lady Eagles did not fare well at the weekend Hooper Tournament in Hope Hull.
The FDA softball squad returned home with their heads held high, despite losing all three of their scheduled games. FDA lost 0-4 to Edgewood, 0-4 to Lowndes and 2-3 to Lee Scott Academy.
Anderson said experience is not on her side.
“We have a very young team,” Anderson said. “We are still making too many errors and mistakes.”
One strength the FDA team lacks is offense, Anderson said.
“We are lacking the most in hitting,” Anderson said. “We are hitting it, it just isn’t leaving the infield.”
Anderson said the weekend games showed some improvement in other sectors.
“We have cut down our errors quite a bit,” Anderson said. “We are still pooping it up though-we need to quit dropping our shoulder and work on hitting it straight.”
The Eagles did not get things going offensively versus Edgewood, going three up and three down throughout the entire game.
Three FDA players, Abbey Martin, Murphy Middleton and Taylor Merry each went 1-for-2 versus Lowndes. Again, however, the Eagles failed to capitalize.
Hannah Johnson grabbed a hit versus Lee-Scott, helping FDA score two runs. This was not enough, however, to pick up a win.
Anderson hopes things will get better as the players get more experience.
The Eagles will have play Morgan in Selma on March 11.
