Chamber’s Belles and Beaus chosen

The Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce Belles & Beaus is a group of 12 high school students chosen from applications submitted from all 4 high schools.

Qualifications were that they must have an overall GPA of at least an 85 average.

The applicants were judged along with a 500-word essay detailing their experiences of living in Crenshaw County, plus a 5-minute interview.

This will be an annual event for the Chamber which will normally take place in April.

The Chamber Belles & Beaus Program gives young men and women an opportunity to be involved with the business community by assisting at various functions such as ribbon cuttings, grand openings, ground breakings, banquets, festivals and the annual Christmas parade.

These students are also encouraged to do community service, which they receive points toward scholarship awards.

The 12 chosen include six seniors: Macy Owens, BHS; Candice Dunn, CCA; Kelly Sasser, CCA; Shanequia Harrell, LHS; Kelsy Davis, LHS; Garrett Walley, LHS.

The three Juniors include Shelby Stephens, LHS; Mackenzie Blackmon, LHS, Trent Norris, HHS.

The three Sophmores are Sara Mallison Alford, LHS; Moriah McDougald, LHS, and Paige Boswell, CCA.
