Luverne’s Kelsy Davis will be traveling to Orlando, Fla., Dec. 9 -15 to represent Crenshaw County at the 2009 Cities of America Pageant.
Kelsy, a senior at Luverne High School, is the daughter of Carolyn Thrower and Richard Davis.
Last December, before competing in Montgomery, 700 girls were interviewed to determine who would make it to the final stage of the pageant. From there, 437 girls, including Kelsy, were selected to move on to the next round. Kelsy was crowned the 2008 Miss Teen Montgomery, which qualified her to move on to the final pageant being held in Orlando.
Kelsy and her mother will be flown to Orlando and will stay at the Rosen Hotel. The contestants will also get the chance to visit Universal Studios during their stay. Each day, Kelsy will attend rehearsals and compete in a different category of competition. The winner of this year’s Cities of America Pageant will not only receive her crown and title, but also a scholarship to help further her education. Over $70,000 worth of prizes and scholarships will be given away at this year’s pageant.
Along with these prizes, Kelsy will have the chance to win a brand new 2009 sports car.
“I love competing in beauty pageants,” Davis said. “This has been a passion of mine since I was a child.”
Davis said that she also likes to compete for the scholarships that will help with her college expenses.
After graduation, she plans to attend Troy University and become a nurse practitioner.
