The AHSAA released the 2010-2012 football classifications and region alignments today, and local teams have a few changes to adjust to.
While none of the county teams changed classifications, their regions look a little different.
Greenville High School remains in 5A, but two members of their current region can’t say the same.
Carver of Montgomery jumped to 6A and Monroe County dropped to 4A.
To compensate for the loss, the Tigers’ region now includes Tuscaloosa County schools Brookwood, Central-Tuscaloosa and Paul Bryant.
For the past two years, Butler County Magnet School and McKenzie were in different regions, and the Panthers had several long trips to west Alabama.
With the move of Ariton and Providence Christian to 2A, BCMS has moved over to 1A, Region 2 to join the Tigers and other Wiregrass teams.
