It was a tough, drag-out fight between the Highland Home Flying Squadron and the Zion Chapel Rebels last Friday night.
The Zion Chapel Rebels scheduled Highland Home for their Homecoming. The summary of the game was a close physical game all the way through, but the Rebels squeaked out a 28-21 win.
The Flying Squadron came out on the first drive firing on all cylinders. The play calls were excellent and were even better executed. The Flying Squadron had 275 yards total offense, while the Rebels had 304 total yards offensively. The Rebels passed 3 times for 1 completion and 4 yards and a touchdown. They had exactly 300 yards rushing, most on the legs of Wesley Black.
The Flying Squadron’s run game was pretty effective also, running for 231 yards on 39 attempts. The Squadron was led by Antwaine Harris. He had 110 yards on 9 attempts and 3 touchdowns. Freshman Quarterback John Dunn was 3 of 8 for 44 yards and no touchdowns.
The player of the week for Highland Home is Antwaine Harris. On the Zion Chapel side it is Wesley Black. Each of them had very good games. The deciding factor in this game was the face that the Zion Chapel Rebels had no penalties and no turnovers, while the Squadron had 3 penalties for 40 yards and an interception thrown.
This week, the Flying Squadron will host county rivals the Luverne Tigers in Clay Jordan Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
