Annie Mae Jordan
JORDAN, Mrs. Annie Mae, age 88, a resident of Montgomery, AL died Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 from Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Osgood officiating. Interment followed in Rutledge Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Jordan and her grandson, Randy Jordan. She is survived by three children, Annie Sue (Sam) Meredith, Larry (Terri) Jordan, and Sandra (Craig) Dunn; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Etoil (Hershel) Norsworthy and Glennie Pearl Graydon; and one brother, Ralph Simpler. The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.
Hazel J. Hodge
HODGE, Mrs. Hazel J., 77, a resident of Luverne died Wednsday, October 21, 2009 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at South Luverne Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Green officiating. Interment followed in Joquin Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Shirley, Jr.; her parents Charlie Rufus and Mattie Johnson; two sisters, Ella Mae McKenzie and Lucille Morrow; and three brothers, William H. Johnson, Doc Johnson and Jim Johnson. Survivors include five children, Larry (Marcia) Shirley, Gary (Sharron) Shirley, Lisa (Mike) Green, Tina (Mark) Cooper and Tony (Pam) Hodge; a host of grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Voncile Shirley and Lennie Mae Moses. Active pallbearers were Scott Johnson, Doyle Turner, Keith Fowler, Gordon Shirley, Bruce Roberts and Shannon McKenzie.
Sarah Elizabeth Adams
ADAMS, Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth, 89, a resident of Greenville died Sunday, October 25, 2009. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer East Baptist Church with Rev. Wallace Newton officiating and Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville directing. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the church prior to services.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Claude E. Adams, Greenville; daughters, Opal E. McGinty, Greenville, Helen (Jim) Walker, Prattville, Linda McVay Smith, Greenville, Ann (Roger) Mulnix, Greenville, Jean (Dan) Turner, Black, Ala.; son, Claude (Cathy) Adams, Jr., Greenville; brother, Billy (Barbara) Ward, Ocala, Fla.; several grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her son, Charles Adams and two grandsons, Robbie and Michael McVay as well as one great-grandson, Tanner Williams.
Doris Ann Motes Campbell
CAMPBELL, Mrs. Doris Ann Motes, 60, a resident of Luverne died Friday, October 23, 2009 after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. W.W. Williams officiating. Interment followed in Darien Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Campbell and Chad Campbell; her parents, Rubin and Myrtle Motes; and a brother, Ray Motes. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Howard Campbell; four children, Teresa Watson, Gary (Vicki) Campbell, Rickey (Rachel) Campbell and Lisa (Kyle) Rhodes; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Jane Warren, Phyllis Bryan and Ann Wilkerson; and two brothers, John Motes and Nelson (Lois) Motes. Active pallbearers were Jeffrey Bryan, Greg Bryan, Terry Motes, John Edward Motes, Michael Motes and Timothy Rhodes.
