Eagles soar above Squadron

It was a lot closer game than the scoreboard indicated when the Flying Squadron of Highland Home traveled to face the Goshen Eagles Friday night.

The final score was 27-12 and the Eagles prevailed. But at the end of halftime the game was tied 6-6.

The Flyboys had long drives but failed to put it in. HHS broke their season high record of 271 yards to a whopping 333 yards total offense. Freshman Quarterback John Dunn was 10 of 20 passing for 101 yards and 2 interceptions.

Breaking his season high record by almost 40 yards, senior tight end Desmond “Didi” Harris had a good night receiving making 3 catches for 50 yards including one touchdown. The running game was on once again for senior running back Jonathan “J-mo” Moultry. He had 84 yards rushing on 20 attempts and 1 rushing touchdown.

Honorable offensive mention senior wingback Antwaine Harris had 76 yards rushing on 9 attempts. Antwaine Harris also had an interception right before halftime.

The Goshen Eagles run game was certainly dominant rushing for 355 yards on 28 carries against the flyboys.

The offensive line had a very good night for the Flying Squadron, led by the senior leadership of Drew Rogers, Cris Boyd, and Alex Gibson. The two young but very impressive sophomore squadron were Brandon Powell and Matt Johnson. The Squadron’s record is now 1-7 and 1-5 in district play.
