Bayside Admirals outrank Tigers

The Luverne Tigers met their match last Friday night in Glenn Daniel Stadium as the Bayside Academy Admirals came to Luverne and wasted little time in letting the folks know that they had come to win causing the Tigers to drop their second season loss, 31-21.

Bayside scored two first quarter touchdowns to take a quick 14-0 lead. They then added a field goal in the second quarter to take a 17 to 14 lead at half time. The Tigers scored two touchdowns during the second quarter, but it left them heading into halftime trailing by three.

The first Tiger TD came on an 80-yard pass and run from Monterio May to Ryan McGhee, while the second Tiger score came on a 58-yard run by McGhee. The first PAT was missed, but on the second try, May hit Lance Brooks for the two-point conversion.

Luverne scored one touchdown during the second half as Monterio May passed 9 yards to Evan Richardson; the PAT was converted by Ryan Waters, giving the Tigers their final 21 points for the night.

The Admirals went on to add two more scores, giving them the 31-21 win.

The Tigers managed 274 yards of total offense while giving up 372 total yards to the Admirals.

The Tigers travel to Straughn this Friday night to take on the Tigers for a third or fourth place seed in the playoffs. Straughn knocked off previously unbeaten and number one ranked T. R. Miller at home last Friday night.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
