Lorene Luster
LUSTER, Mrs. Lorene , 86, a resident of Luverne died Monday, September 28, 2009 after a brief illness. Mrs. Luster is preceded in death by her husband, James G. Luster. Survivors include her three sons, Murray (Julie) Luster of Chesapeake, VA, Steve (Beverly) Luster of Farley, IA and Craig (Denise) Luster of Goshen; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Norma Joy Skinner
SKINNER, Norma Joy, age 79, a resident of Greenville, Ala., former resident of Montgomery, Ala., died Friday, October 2, 2009 .
Graveside services were held Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 3 p.m. in the Rocky Mount Cemetery, Highland Home, Ala., with Reverend Steve Smith officiating. Interment followed with Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville, Ala., directing. A visitation was held from 1 – 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Survivors include: daughter, Joan H. (Randy) Chandler, Greenville, Ala.; sons, Lary M. (Becky) Hall, Nashville, TN., Charles D. (Mona Lisa) Hall, Prattville, Ala.; brother, Charles E. (Margaret) Skinner, Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Ginger S. (Joel) Falkowski, Montgomery, Ala.; grandchildren, Keith P. (Kelly) Chandler, Prattville, Ala., Kevin M. (Sunny) Chandler, Florence, Ala., Jonathan C. Chandler, Montgomery, Ala., Jillian J. Chandler, Greenville, Ala.; great – grandchildren, Jackson, Logan and Ethan Chandler, Prattville, Ala.; Katy, Aubry and Lydia Chandler, Florence , Ala.
Ginny Marie Witherington
WITHERINGTON, Mrs. Ginny Marie, 37, a resident of Brantley died Saturday, October 3, 2009. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Thorn and Rev. Richard Harvey officiating. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Witherington was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Julia Jones and George and Frances Sanders and her mother-in-law, Martha Ann Witherington. Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Keith Witherington; four children, Corey Compton, Shayna Witherington, Charlie Witherington and Jeromy Nott; her parents, Linda and Freddy Sanders; two sisters, Amy Beck and Brooke (Joey) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Dale Watson, Bobby Witherington, Chad Kilcrease, Justin Witherington, Clyde Walker, and Charlie Moore.
Nora Walker Petty
PETTY, Mrs. Nora Walker , 77, a resident of Luverne died Saturday, October 3, 2009. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Mt. Olive Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Petty was preceded in death by her daughter, Nora Fay Ross. Survivors include three children, Mary June (Billy) Killingsworth, William Donald Petty and Wanda Kay Hart; twelve grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Flossy Bell Wingard, Mary Sorrells, Sybile Rogers and Oralee Miles.
Mazelle Brown Duncan
DUNCAN, Mrs. Mazelle Brown, 88, a resident of Highland Home, AL died Tuesday, October 6, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 from the New Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. William Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Derrick Duncan; her parents, John Q. and Emma Brown; her sister, Ina Owens; and her brother, Leon Brown. She is survived by three children, Joyce (Joseph) Eiland, Rodney Duncan and Calvert (Teresa) Duncan; three grandchildren, Charles (Michelle) Mansmann, Christopher (Amy) Mansmann and Casey (Samantha) Mansmann; and nine great- grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Calvert Duncan, Rodney Duncan, Joseph Eiland, Casey Mansmann, Charles Mansmann, and Christopher Mansmann. Mrs. Duncan will lie in repose at the church Thursday for 30 minutes prior to services.
