CCSO searching for suspect in recent burglaries

The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office needs your help in searching for a suspect, or suspects, who have been involved in a rash of “crash and grab” burglaries in Crenshaw and surrounding counties.

According to Sheriff’s Investigator Ronnie White, a white pick-up truck has been seen at the site of several burglaries in Butler, Pike, and Montgomery counties, as well as two, if not more, in Crenshaw County.

The burglaries have been going on for the last 2-3 weeks, White said, and investigators aren’t certain of the total number of burglaries in all four counties combined.

“Basically, they’re kicking in the doors when no one is home and grabbing the easiest thing they can get and then leaving as quickly as possible,” White said.

The suspects are taking TVs, computers, guns, jewelry, electronics—anything of value that can be removed from the home quickly, White said.

“If you see someone pulling into yards, turning around in people’s yards, asking for directions, asking to use the phone—anything out of the ordinary, call the Sheriff’s Office immediately,” he said. “It may be very important to the case even though it may not seem like it at the time.”

White said to also be aware of someone trying to sell these types of items.

“If you have any suspicions about someone, don’t hesitate to call the Sheriff’s Office or any law enforcement agency,” he said.
