Pine Flat Methodist to celebrate Homecoming, Memorial Day

Voices will ring out in praise and worship as Pine Flat Methodist Church and the Pine Flat Cemetery Association celebrate their annual homecoming and Memorial Day observance at 11 a.m. Sunday, October 4.
The Rev. Ed Shirley, pastor of Camden United Methodist Church and Canton Bend United Methodist Church will deliver the message.
A Millbrook native, Pastor Shirley has served United Methodist Churches in Clanton, Hurtsboro, Mobile and York. He is a graduate of Troy State University and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
“Reach Back to Step Forward” will be his sermon title.
The speaker will also provide special music, along with Mrs. Kenneth Renfroe, her grandson, Russ Renfroe and organist Mrs. Charles Terry Jr.
Myralyn Trawick Watson will deliver the memorial service, with Mr. and Mrs. McDuffie Stallworth, Mrs. Wayne Wall, Mrs. Ann Henley and Mrs. Larry Smith serving as registrars.
Charles Terry III is slated as acolyte while Catherine Ann Walker and Mary Helen Terry will be usherettes. A traditional “Dinner on the Grounds” will follow the service, along with special entertainment by Rev. Shirley.
October 4 will also serve as the church’s official “Decoration Day” for its historic cemetery.
The trustees of the Pine Flat Cemetery Association cordially invite all family members, those with ancestral connections and friends to attend the annual event. Bring a basket lunch, folding chairs, folding tables, and enjoy the great Christian fellowship and special entertainment after the luncheon.
