The Greenville Middle School 7th grade team managed to pull out a 2-0 win over Wetumpka Thursday night, but the 8th grade team fell 18-0.

The first game of the night was tied 0-0 until a bad snap got by Wetumpka’s quarterback deep in his own territory and Greenville tackled him in the endzone for a safety with 8.7 seconds left to play.

The second game was close in the first half, but the Tigers were driving down the field for a score just before the break when the Indians returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown.

“We played hard, but we just couldn’t get the ball into the endzone,” said head coach Josh McLendon. “The kids played tough, and that’s all we ask them to do.”

Next week, the Tigers will again be at home, this time against Charles Henderson.

“It’s always a big game when we play them,” McLendon said.
