Fort Dale’s varsity football team gets a shot at Pike Liberal Arts this Friday night, but the junior high teams drew first blood with a sweep of the Patriots Tuesday night.
The Termites won 16-8 and the Pee-Wees prevailed 18-0.
The evening was capped by a 26-8 win by the JV team.
One of the highlights of the game was the four interceptions by the Eagle defense, one of which was returned by Chip Taylor for a touchdown.
Ryan Taylor, Ryan Salter and Matthew Bender all added rushing touchdowns for FDA.
“Our defense has been pretty strong,” said head coach William Johnson. “We’ve got five interceptions in two games. We’ve got a big passing team coming to town this Tuesday.”
The Eagles’ first home game is Tuesday against Prattville Christian, whose JV runs the Tony Franklin system of offense.
“The kids are all ready to play at home,” Johnson said. “It’ll be nice to not have to get on a bus and go somewhere. We had a big crowd at Pike, and we’re looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd.”
