September is here, and that means it’s also time for LBWCC’s annual golf tournament at Cambrian Ridge.

This year’s event will be held on Sept. 16 at 1 p.m.

The tournament is a big source of scholarship revenue for the school, according to tournament coordinator Arlene Davis.

“All of the proceeds go directly to students,” she said. “A large proportion of it goes to dual-enrollment students with no financial aid or other assistance. It helps a lot with that.”

Davis also said that about a quarter of the money awarded throughout the year comes from this tournament.

Interest in the event so far has also been good, despite economic conditions.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble, and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, closest to pin, longest drive and hole-in-one.

Door prizes will also be given out.

“This is also a good place to network,” Davis said. “There will be people here from Montgomery, Andalusia, Fort Walton Beach, Destin and lots of other places, so it’s especially good for local businesses and people to make some contacts.”

The deadline for entry is Sept. 8.
