Alton Milton Richburg of Goshen, AL, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009, at the age of 86.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 23, at Turners Funeral Home in Luverne, AL. with Rev. Lavon Davis and Rev. Jerry Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Emmaus Cemetery in Luverne. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until service time. Memorials may be made to Goshen United Methodist Church, Goshen, AL.
Mr. Richburg was a lifelong resident of Crenshaw County, born August 11, 1923, to Hugh Houston and Georgia Viola Nichols Richburg. He was a retired farmer and a WWII veteran.
Mr. Richburg was survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia King Richburg of Goshen; 3 daughters: Rita Moore (J. Frank), Daleville; Charlotte Hamm (Bob), Bel Aire, MD; and Martha Farneman (Shawn), Muscle Shoals; 2 sons: Mahlon Richburg (Mary), Auburn; and David Richburg, Luverne; 9 grandchildren: Michelle Campbell (Heath), Dothan; Katie Richburg, Montgomery; Dr. James F. Moore (Kelly), Opelika; George M. Richburg, Auburn; Chris Hamm (Emily), Austin, TX; Dr. Courtney Meredith (Sean), Mobile; Joshua Farneman, Muscle Shoals; Heather Gill (Cameron), Auburn; and Joy Moreland (Toby), Mobile; 4 great-grandchildren: Lauren, Madison, and Heather Campbell, Dothan; and Elijah Hamm, Austin, TX; 2 sisters: Ina Fuller (James), Montgomery; and Voncile Nichols, Luverne; sister-in-law, Merle Richburg, Goshen; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter Emmanuelle Hamm, Austin, TX; brothers: W. Alfred Richburg and Arthur L. Richburg, Goshen; sisters, Irene McLeod and Lorena McLeod, Goshen; Odessa Golden, Enterprise and Mary Hardy, Milton, FL.
