McKenzie fans will notice a new face on the sideline for the Tigers this year — Tony Norris.

Norris is the newest addition to the McKenzie coaching staff, and he’s taking over linebackers and wide receivers.

Head coach Miles Brown said Norris, a Greenville native, fits right into McKenzie’s staff.

“He’s definitely been a great addition for us,” Brown said. “He’s young, energetic and eager to learn.”

Norris has been working side by side with coaches Brown, Ezell Powell and Mike Bass to help get the Tigers on their feet in the first week of practice.

“We’re still working on ironing kinks out right now,” Brown said. “We’re doing lots and lots of fundamentals, not just on offense, but on both sides of the ball.”

Like the other schools, McKenzie put on pads for the first time this season on Thursday.

“We got a good bit of intensity out of them when we got to knocking around,” Brown said.

“We’re also still conditioning, but we’ve been in pretty good shape overall,” he added.
