After slogging through a rainy weekend, Todd Bailey of Spanish Fort claimed the top spot at the 2009 Alabama Open at Cambrian Ridge.

Bailey shot a 66 on the first day, but trailed Daniel Burns of Mobile by two strokes.

Friday’s round had several rain delays and after several showers popped up on Saturday, the tournament was shortened from three rounds to two.

Bailey and Burns were tied at 132 at the end of regulation play, and Bailey won on the first playoff hole.

“Overall, the tournament went pretty smooth,” said Cambrian Ridge director of marketing Danny Foster. “It was just wet.”

Greenville had three local golfers competing in the event: Marshall Watts shot rounds of 73 and 75, Brandon Jones had a 75 and 74, and Segeun Choi shot 83 and 76.
