After playing well in Luverne, the Greenville Dixie Minors All-Stars’ bats went cold in the district tournament in Geneva.

In Geneva, Greenville topped the Enterprise Americans 4-2 by scoring four runs in the top of the sixth inning.

“We managed to come back and beat them,” said head coach Scott Scoggins. “We had the bases loaded in three innings before that, and couldn’t score, but we pulled it out.”

Luke Taylor came through with a key two-run double for Greenville.

Greenville also lost to Geneva and Troy 13-8 in the tournament.

“We also had the bases loaded against Troy, but just couldn’t score,” Scoggins said.

The All-Stars opened up with two straight wins in Luverne, and win number three came after a huge comeback against Eufaula.

“We were down 7-0 to them but came back to beat them 13-7,” Scoggins said.

Greenville ended the Luverne tournament by beating Eufaula again and losing to the Enterprise Nationals twice to win second place in the tournament.

“We did well in Luverne, but we just lost that fire when we went to Geneva,” Scoggins said. “We couldn’t get a hit, but the defense was great.”
