It was a night that took the audience back in time – back to the rockin’ ‘50s as nine talented young ladies vied for the title of Crenshaw County Junior Miss 2010.

However, after the last ‘rock around the clock,’ it was Sadie Jones, a rising senior at CCA, who almost came away with a clean sweep of the different categories as well as being named Crenshaw County’s new Junior Miss.

By winning Crenshaw County Junior Miss, Jones was awarded a $1,500 cash scholarship. She also won the Fitness Award, the Self-Expression Award, the Talent Award, the Judges’ Interview Award, and the “Be Your Best Self” Essay Award. These awards netted Jones an additional $500 in cash scholarships as well.

First Runner up for the evening was Candice Dunn, a rising senior at CCA. Dunn also won the Scholastic Achievement Award, which was worth 20 percent of the overall score. This category is based on a review of transcripts of grades in core classes, college prep classes, and scores on scholastic tests and college entrance exams. Dunn was awarded a total of $850 in cash scholarships.

Winning Second Runner up and a $500 cash scholarship was Shanequia Harrell, a rising senior at Luverne High School.

Jenna Stone, also a rising senior at Luverne High School, was awarded the “Spirit of Junior Miss” Award and a $100 cash scholarship.

Jones, the daughter of Mike and Stephanie Jones of Luverne, will now compete in the Alabama Junior Miss Program on Jan. 15-16, 2010, in Montgomery.
