A routine traffic stop for speeding netted the Dozier Police Department an arrest for a fugitive from justice from Escambia County, Fla.
Johnny Green was stopped along Dozier Highway for speeding, according to Dozier Police Chief Terry Mears. At that time, Mears discovered that Green only had an Alabama ID card and that his driver’s license had been suspended. In addition, Mears verified that Green was a fugitive from justice and had a warrant from Escambia County, Fla. At that time he was placed under arrest.
The passenger, Timothy W. Capers, 19, of Andalusia, was also asked to step out of the vehicle.
After Mears searched the vehicle, he found a snuff tin containing marijuana seeds, a rolled cigarette believed to be marijuana, and two packs of rolling papers. Capers claimed the snuff tin belonged to him, and that he had found the marijuana beside the road. He also admitted to smoking the marijuana.
Capers was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, second degree, and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Green was placed under arrest and turned over to the Escambia County authorities, while Capers was transported to the Crenshaw County jail.
