City workers granted funeral leave in Georgiana
City employees in Georgiana will now be allowed to take up to three days of leave for a death in their immediate family.
Previously, days taken for funerals were charged against the employees’ Sick Leave.
The city council passed a proposal by Georgiana’s mayor, Mike Middleton, to amend Employee Benefits and include a separate section specifically for Bereavement Leave. Middleton said a list specifying exactly which family members would be included would be presented at the July council meeting.
In other business, the council approved Resolution 2009-06 pertaining to the ADECA Wastewater Treatment Plant Grant.
“This is simply another necessary step in getting this grant,” Middleton said.
