The Luverne High School Graduation Class of 1949 held their 60th class reunion on April 18, 2009 at the Furman Mitchell Multi Purpose center in Luverne.
The entrance door held a large red and white wreath with wooden letters and numbers that said “Class of 1949”.
Just inside was the registration table with a red and white fresh flower bouquet along with the registration book. A bowl of red and white mints was on the table.
The party room was arranged with tables in banquet style with a head table. Each table was covered in white cloths with red and white balloons anchored in groups of three down the center of each table. At each place setting was a white paper nut cup holding red and white mints made by Shelia Butler.
Beautiful green ferns were placed in several areas of the party area. Serving on the decorating committee were Bernice Dawkins Raley and her daughter Shelia Butler and Syble Harrison and Calvin Warren.
Larry Cauthen welcomed all the classmates, spouses and visitors. Malcolm Pullen gave the memorial in memory of deceased classmates. He also presented a long-stem red rose to all the ladies present.
Mary Susan Borom called the class roll with everyone responding with “Here” and comments they wanted to share with the group.
James Henry King gave the blessing on the meal that was served at noon and catered by Southern Foods of Brantley.
After the meal, Larry Cauthen encouraged all classmates to stay and visit as long as they could because some classmates had come a long distance and would like to have the opportunity to fellowship.
