Luverne School rallied together and made a valiant effort to raise money for Crenshaw County’s Relay for Life this year.

The team was comprised of students from Becky Odom’s HOSA Club and Suzette West’s Web Club, as well as a handful of teachers that joined together to raise money for cancer research.

The team held a few fundraisers at school which included Hat Day, Sunglasses Day and the unforgettable Faculty-Student Softball game. The game helped support shirt sales that proclaimed “Luverne School wants to strike out cancer”.

The overall theme for Relay for Life this year was “Seasons of Hope.” The Luverne team selected Mardi Gras as their Season of Hope and decided they would “Let the Good Times Roll!”

And that they did as Luverne School brought home the trophy for the most money per capita.

“We raised a few dollars short of $6,000, a record for Luverne School,” West said.

The Relay for Life team would like to congratulate the students and their parents, as well as the faculty and staff of Luverne School for participating in all of its fundraising events.

“We would also like to thank Principal Chuck Alford for giving us the opportunity to hold the fundraisers and for supporting the cause as well,” West said.
