CHURCH

Easter Service: New Harmony Baptist Church will have Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 A.M. on April 12. Breakfast will be served following the service. Everyone is invited.

Siloam Baptist Church in the Ivy Creek Community will have an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the Moon Walk, games and refreshments.

Siloam Baptist Church Easter Services:

Bro. Amos Grayson invites everyone to join us for Sunrise Service Sunday, April 12, at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will follow with the Sunday School Service. Morning Worship Service will begin at 11 a.m. with no service at night. Everyone is invited to come and worship with us for the special celebration of our Risen Savior.

Easter Service: Greater Saint Matthew A.M.E. Church in Brantley will hold Easter services immediately following the morning worship services, which begin at 11 a.m., on Sunday, April 12.

Easter Service: The Rockwest Missionary Baptist Church in Goshen invites you to come share with us for our Easter Service and Easter Program on Sunday, April 12, at 7 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Frederick Lowery, Pastor of Helicon Missionary Baptist Church in Grady.

Easter Service: Dozier Easter Sunrise Services will be held at 6:30 a.m. at the Dozier Cemetery (weather permitting—otherwise, at the Dozier Baptist Church). The sermon will be given by Rev. Sam Persons-Parkes, Pastor of Dozier United Methodist Church. Breakfast will be served afterwards at the Dozier Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

LUMC Good Friday Service: ”Noise”

Too often we find ourselves surrounded by “noise” and we don’t even realize it. Sometimes the things that create “noise” don’t even make a sound…fear, stress, sadness. It’s hard to find time to “Be Still.” Join us for a unique Good Friday Service. We will use video and various interactive prayer stations to help us sort through the noise and hear God’s voice.

Annual Usher Day Program: You are invited to join the Greater Saint Matthew A.M.E. church family for fellowship on Sunday, April 26th, at 2:30 p.m., for their Annual Usher Day Program. The guest speaker will be Rev. Jeff D. Abner, pastor of Saint Mark Baptist Church in Glenwood.

COMMUNITY

Pageant: Miss Essence Pageant will be held Saturday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Luverne High School auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m., and proceeds from the pageant will be used as a college scholarship for a graduating senior in Crenshaw County. Ticket prices are $6. Opening Day: Opening Day for Brantley Recreational Department’s summer leagues is Saturday, April 11, at 9 a.m. at Brantley Park.

Road Closing: Crenshaw County will be closing CR 6 at Providence Creek on Monday, April 20, for the purpose of replacing that bridge.

Meeting: Crenshaw County Democratic Conference will hold its next regular meeting on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at King Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Luverne.

BOE -Kindergarten registration

It is time to register the children who will be attending Kindergarten the next school year, 2009-2010. Registration will be held at Brantley, Highland Home and Luverne schools on Thursday April 23, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00p.m.

First Annual Miles to Mission

The first annual Miles for Mission will be held on Saturday May 2, at the Tom Harbin Farm Center in Luverne. The race will help benefit the Crenshaw County Mission Team as they make way to travel to Ecuador this summer. The 5K Run/Walk will start at 8:00 a.m., then the 1-mile fun run/walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the ‘tot trot’ will start at 9:20 a.m.

Refreshments will be provided after race for participants. Preregistration guarantees a t-shirt and is encouraged for discount price. Contact Tracy Watson, the race director, at (334) 335-2437.

Piano Concert: Dr. T. Bob, a “Piano Portrait of Faith,” will be in concert Sunday, May 3, at South Luverne Baptist Church. Performance begins at 2 p.m. A love offering will be taken for the SKBC summer Mission Team’s trip to Ecuador. Reception will follow. For more info, call Guy Bruce at 334-335-5244.

Book Sale: Brantley Public Library is holding a book sale. Hardbacks are 25 cents and paperbacks are ten cents. The library is open Monday-Friday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, and is located inside Brantley Town Hall.

CCA Dinner Theatre: The Crenshaw Christian Academy Spring Sing Dinner Theater will be held on Monday, April 13th, 2009. A steak dinner with all the trimmings will be served at 6:30 followed by the performance. There will be several musical numbers from the CCA kindergarten and elementary students presented. Wheels and Deals: The HHS PTA is hosting a Car Show and Craft Fair for their spring fundraiser. Rain or shine event to be held at Highland Home School on April 18th, 9:00 – 3:00 p.m. Registration is $20 if you pre-register, $25 the day of the show. Registration day 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Judging at 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Awards presentation 2:00 p.m. Personalized handmade gifts, jewelry, baked goodies and much more. 10 X 10 booths are $25 each. Relay for Life Poker Run: The Hospice Relay for Life team is sponsoring a “Poker Run” on Saturday, April 18, at E. L. Turner Park in Luverne. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the first bikes out at 9 a.m. Cost is $15 per bike, with $10 for passengers or extra hands. Prizes will be awarded for the best and worst poker hands. Relay for Life Blood Drive: Crenshaw Community Hospital Relay for Life Blood Drive will be held on Friday, April 24, at E.L. Turner Park from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
