GHS tennis tops Valley

The Tigers took on Valley High School in tennis last week and came away winners.
“I had to put my No. 7 seed, Perry Hamilton, in the No. 1 seed position and she won,” said head coach William Champion. The boys won 6-3, and the girls were also the overall winner.

Boys:
No. 1 Mitch Young defeated Yari Flournory 6-3, 6-2
No. 2 Casey Tesmer defeated David Russ 6-2, 7-5
No. 3 David Caddell defeated James Grimes 2-6, 6-3, 6-2
No. 4 Will Corley defeated Jacob Crutchfield 6-2, 6-2
No. 5 Andrew Jones lost to Josh Kirkland 2-6, 2-6
No. 6 Ethan Dungan lost to Chase Fuller 4-6, 2-6
Doubles:
Young and Caddell defeated Flournory and Grimes 4-6, 6-1, 6-2
Tesmer and Corley defeated Russ and Crutchfield 6-2, 2-6, 6-1
Jones and Dungan lost to Kirkland, Fuller 4-6, 2-6

No. 2 Sarah Roper lost to Haley Hajek 1-6, 0-6
No. 3 Ashley Tetter defeated Sherry Williams 6-0, 6-2
No. 4 Elizabeth Dicks defeated Regis Price 6-1, 6-1
No. 5 Sarah Leverett defeated Savana Grainjer 6-1, 6-2
No. 6 Kelsey Hobb defeated Shannon Smith 6-0, 6-2
