A weekend trip to Thomasville ended in a win and a loss for the Greenville baseball team.

Greenville defeated Demopolis 4-1 in the first game of the day.

“Raymond Moody had a good game for us,” said head coach Brad Horn. “He went seven innings and only gave up three hits and an unearned run.”

Demopolis jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but the Tigers got three runs in the fourth inning and another in the sixth.

Stewart Moody had two RBIs for Greenville on three hits, including a triple.

Raymond Moody and Cordez Peagler also added RBIs.

In the second game against Thomasville, the Tigers lost 20-10.

“We just ran low on pitching,” Horn said. “We had 10 or 11 hits, though, and around 18 for the weekend. So even though we didn’t get a good pitching outing, our hitting problem went away.”

Hunter Harrell led the charge for Greenville against Thomasville, going 3-4 with four RBIs.

For the weekend, Harrell was 6-8 at the plate.

“We also got a good weekend from Ryan Smith, and Stewart Moody broke out for us,” Horn said.

“Area play starts in April, so we’ve got the rest of March to get things rolling, but the two teams we played were good teams,” Horn added.
