ELWOOD ROBERT HALSEY

Mr. Elwood Robert Halsey, age 74 of Little Oak, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in Birmingham. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Burial followed in the Little Oak Cemetery. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. Visitation was held Friday, February 20, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy

He is survived by his wife, Marian Halsey of Little Oak, 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Bryan and Juanita Halsey of Pensacola, Stanley Halsey of Little Oak, and Neil Halsey of Little Oak, grandsons, Robert and Stephen Halsey of Pensacola, sisters and brother-in-law, Ava and Merle Burdick of Michigan and Valerie Lee of California, sister-in-law Esther Van Dam of Dade City, Fla., several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Robert Halsey, Stephen Halsey, Gary Psarudakis, Curtis Shaver, Danny Rhodes, and Carroll Rhodes.

ROBERT MAXWELL WATSON

WATSON, Mr. Robert Maxwell, 93, a resident of Scottsboro and formerly of Luverne, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Graveside services were held on Saturday February 21, 2009 at the Darien Cemetery with Rev. William Leverette officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie B. Turner Watson and a daughter, Lola Scott Beaird. Survivors include two grandsons, Steve (Emma Dean) Beaird and Bruce Beaird, both of Scottsboro; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Dean Beaird and Steven Dawson Beaird; and his son-in-law, Elbert Beaird of Scottsboro.

Active pallbearers were his grandsons, Dr. Billy Norman, Phillip Norman, Wilburn Tomberlin and Rev. Malcolm Butts.

JOHN D. WALDEN

WALDEN, Mr. John D. “Johnny”, 64, a resident of Dozier, died Monday, February 23, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Kidd and Rev Walter Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Walden was preceded in death by his parents, Gillis and Ina Phillips Walden and a brother, James R. Walden. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Cheryl B. Walden; five children, Bryan (Wendy) Walden, Jesse (Krystal) Walden, Heather Walden, John D. Walden, II and Jason Walden; four grandchildren, Preston and Macie Walden and Wesley and Jesse Walden; two sisters, Sarah Kidd and Carrie (Wayne) Aughtmon; a brother, Lomax (Lois) Walden; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends at the funeral home Wednesday February 25, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
