After it seemed like things had settled down with the Auburn coaching situation, everyone was caught off guard earlier this week when assistant coach James Willis joined the staff at the University of Alabama.
Willis was one of Auburn’s top recruiters, and one of the only holdovers from the Tommy Tuberville era.
It remains to be seen what effect this will have on recruiting, but Greenville’s Jamontay Pilson said he intends to still attend Auburn.
“It’s not going to affect me,” Pilson said. “That’s just his choice.”
Pilson also said he hasn’t even considered changing his commitment and possibly following Willis to Alabama.
With the Feb. 4 signing day approaching, Pilson is heading to the Plains for an official visit next Friday.
