The Greenville Tigers made a trip to Montgomery to face the Sidney Lanier Poets, and the Tigers returned with a pair of losses.
The boys fell to Lanier 80-56.
“We came out good in the first quarter, but they started pressing in the second quarter and we lost our composure,” said head coach Bryant Marlow.
Brentley Hill had 17 points and Jacques Burnett added 16.
Greenville’s matchup with Monroe County Friday night has region implications: if the Tigers win, the area tournament will be played at Wilcox County.
If the Tigers lose, there will be a coin toss to decide the location.
The Greenville girls also lost to Lanier 53-37.
Amber Andrews was the leading scorer for the girls with 10 points.
Results of the game against Monroe County were unavailable at press time.
