Lady Tigers fall to Straughn

The Luverne Lady Tigers had a tough time Tuesday night, Jan. 20, trying to outscore the Straughn High School girls as they ended with a disappointing 60-32 loss.
By the end of the first quarter, Straugn had a lead of 17-3 and held on to that lead by halftime with 28-18. The Lady Tigers were able to add more points on the board with freethrows. However, Straughn pushed even harder to make sure Luverne had something to talk about in the locker room during halftime.
For the third quarter, Luverne stepped up their game and were able to add six more points to the scoreboard with the majority of the scores coming from the freethrow line. However, Straughn kept a tight hold on their lead that they had had the entire game.
With 5:30 left in the fourth quarter, Luverne’s Ashley Hall snagged the ball but struggled to keep it in the hoop. TeAndra Burnett made several attempts to add points to the board with 2:40 left on the clock, but to little avail.
Luverne struggled to add more points to the board as the clock wound down. However, with six seconds left in the game, Ashley Hall dropped in four points, but it wasn’t enough to overpower Straughn, as the Luverne Lady Tigers came away with a 60-32 loss.
