THOMPSON

THOMPSON, Infant Brooklyn Emma, was born November 21, 2008, and passed away at Baptist East in Montgomery, Ala., on November 21, 2008. Graveside services were held November 23, at Peaceful Acres Cemetery with Wyatt Funeral Home, Opp, Ala., directing.

Brooklyn was preceded in death by her brother, Scotty Thompson.

She is survived by her parents, Earl and Audrea (Dickey) Thompson of Glenwood; sister, Baily Elyse Thompson; brother, Bradley Earl Thompson; grandparents Tim and Becky Dickey of Glenwood, Bobby and Jeanette Register of Highland Home, Sonny and Donna Thompson of Opp, and Alan and Linda Peavey of Kinston.

SIDNEY FRANKLIN CHANDLER

CHANDLER, Mr. Sidney Franklin, age 67, a resident of Hope Hull, AL, died Thursday, December 4, 2008. Graveside funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Old Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Chandler is survived by his wife, Ola Mae Chandler; two daughters, Ola Faye (Jimmy) Varner and Mary Ann Mitchell; five grandchildren, Jordan Carter, Dustin Carter, Devin Carter, Brent Varner, and Nicholas Varner; one great- grandchild, Bladyn Carter; a sister, Debbie Sue Tetter; and three brothers, Roy Max Chandler, Michael Chandler, and Gerald Chandler.

ROSIE L. COBB

COBB, Mrs. Rosie L., age 95, a resident of Luverne, AL, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008. A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Centenary Cemetery with Rev. William Leverette officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Cobb was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Cobb.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William and Kana Cobb of Montgomery; two granddaughters, Janet (Mike) Byrd and Judy (Warren) Humphries; three great-grandchildren, Lindsey McCabe, Andy and Austin Hipps; two great-great-grandchildren, Cody Andrews and Faith McCabe; and a sister, Carrene Williamson, all of Montgomery. Active pallbearers were Austin Hipps, Mike Byrd, Warren Humphries, Wesley Holland, Windham Sipper, and Bartley Welch.

JAMES L. KELLEY

KELLEY, Mr. James L. “Jimmy”, 69, a resident of Rutledge, died Saturday, December 6, 2008. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Neal Kelley, Rev. Mike Moses and Rev. Joe Leverette officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Imelda Horn Kelley. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Linda Tanner Kelley; two children, Neal Kelley and Becky (Brian) Richardson; two grandchildren, Lucas and Hope Richardson; and two sisters, Kathryn Welch and Ann Lindsey. Active pallbearers were Bartley Welch, Jeffrey Welch, Wade Lindsey, Donnie Crew, Jim Hurston and Jim Bees.

ROY PETTUS

PETTUS, Mr. Roy, 74, a resident of Goshen, died Monday, December 8, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Weeks and Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Pettus was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Julia Simmons Pettus; three sisters, Bessie Eggers, Lessie Crutchfield and Pearl Williams; and three brothers, J.D. Pettus, Lamar Pettus and William Monroe Pettus. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Johnnie Lou Pettus; four children, Carol (Jim) Davis, Kerry Roy Pettus, Michelle (Wren) Ballard and Bobby Ray (Melanie) Pettus; seven grandchildren, Joel Todd Jackson, Kevin Roy Jackson, Wesley Mason Pettus, Summer Nicole Pettus, Joshua Michael Barbaree, Preston Finlay Ballard and Isabella Marie Pettus; three sisters, Ann Pettus Siegrist, Tura Farrish and Julia Bourgious; and one brother, Ray Pettus. Active pallbearers will be Joey Knox, Phillip McDougald, Joe Lester, John Sexton, Steve Hughes, Steve Hudson, Rusty Sexton and Eddie Lowery.
