The Georgiana Panthers basketball teams picked up their first wins of the season Friday night against Excel.
The boys team won 83-33, the girls won 41-34 and the b-team also picked up a win
“It’s our first win in our first game,” said boys head coach Kirk Norris. “We got off to a great start. In my years of coaching, that was probably the most intensity I’ve had a team come out with.”
Norris said his team started the game with an excited attitude and got contributions from every player.
“One of the things we’ve been preaching since last year is intensity on defense, and we did that,” he said. “We got them playing at our pace and that opened up some opportunities for us.”
Victor Marshall had 18 points in the win, while Donovan McIntosh, Jerrod Lee, LaCory Savage and Kevin Thomas all had 10 points.
Lamar Crittenden was the leading rebounder with 12.
The boys play Opp in Opp next Tuesday, while the girls travel to Straughn for a Thanksgiving tournament.
