In the early hours of Nov. 1, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on the Montgomery Highway that ended up being their first homicide of the year.

At 3:25 a.m., a call was placed to the Sheriff’s Office, and deputies arrived on the scene to find that a stabbing victim, 21-year-old Cedric Dynell Wilson of Greenville, had been transported to Stabler Hospital via private vehicle.

Wilson was later pronounced dead at Stabler.

After processing the scene and beginning the search for a suspect, the BCSO received information around 6 a.m. that the suspect was at Butler Estates.

Romerrell Danelo Miller, 25, of Greenville was arrested and charged with murder.

According to Sheriff Kenny Harden, it appears that a fight started in town earlier that night and it later moved out into the county.

“It’s our first homicide of the year, but one is too many,” Harden said. “We had a lot of people helping us, and we want to say ‘thank you’ to them and to the citizens helping us locate the suspect.”

Miller is being held in the Butler County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
