HAVARD RICHBURG

RICHBURG, Havard, age 88, a resident of Luverne, Ala., died September 24, 2008.

Mr. Richburg was a professor at Tuskegee University, the University of Wisconsin and Alabama A&M University.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 30, at 11:30 a.m. from New Hope Valley Baptist Church with Melvin Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, Montgomery, Ala. Visitation was held Monday, September 29, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a wake following from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Lollie Richburg; son, Raymond G. (Louise) Richburg, of Luverne, Ala.; sister-in-law, Ethel Richburg of Montgomery, Ala.; two sisters, Doris Jackson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Magdalene Robinson of Greenville, Ala., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michael Richburg, Jr., Scholarship Fund at Auburn University of Montgomery.

FRANCES H. STROWD

STROWD, Mrs. Frances H., 77, a resident of Luverne, died Sunday, September 28, 2008. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. from Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Butts and Rev. Danny R. Duncan officiating. Interment followed in Elam Cemetery, Goshen, Ala., with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Strowd was preceded in death by her husband, W. E. “Ed” Strowd. She is survived by four children, Mike (Gloria) Strowd of Ashford, AL, Pam (Rick) Rice of Esbon, KS, Jeff Strowd of Ashford, and Bobby (Belinda) Strowd of Columbia, AL; five grandchildren, Michael (Kellie) Strowd, Michelle (Brandon) Kelley, Josiah, Jacob, and Hannah Jo Strowd; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Kelley. Active pallbearers included Buddy Strops, Clark Coggins, Paul Allen, Terry Cauthen, Michael Strowd, and Josiah Strowd. The family requests that memorials be made to Patsburg Baptist Church, c/o Flonell Carnes, 142 1st Ave., Luverne, AL 36049.

DR. FLOYD DODDS

DODDS, Dr. Floyd, M.D., 91, a resident of Brantley, Ala., died Monday, September 29, 2008. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. from Mt. Zion Cemetery with Harris Cornett officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Dr. Dodds was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Stokes Dodds, his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cathy Dodds of Brantley; seven grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; a sister, Mary Cauthen of Jackson, MS; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Dodds, Mark Dodds, Jeremy Dodds, Harris Cornett, Stuart Wheeler, and Mike Dodds.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.

RALPH H. BELL

BELL , Ralph H., age 74, a resident of Honoraville, Ala., died Monday, September 29, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Union Cemetery, Honoraville, Ala., with Reverend Kendrick Kelley officiating and Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville, Ala., directing.

A visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Bell, Honoraville, Ala.; daughter, Renea Bell, Honoraville, Ala.; son, Randall Bell, Honoraville, Ala.; sister, Exa Morris, Honoraville, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
