Tournament Chairman Joe Watts noted again only one team finished above Par at the conclusion of the tournament.

Although the team of Dickens, Flowers and Petrey shot the highest score, from personal observation, they displayed the essence of a round of golf in the truest sense of the word.

Less than favorable shots brought laughter and words of encouragement for the next shot.

They enjoyed the weekend and the fellowship of each other’s company more than they worried about their score.

Golf Course Superintendent Tommy Ryan, Sr., having only recently taken over the maintenance of the golf course, had the course in excellent playing condition.

It was apparent that a “golfer” had selected pin positions for this tournament as indicated by more than one comment that the pins did not seem to be in as difficult positions as noted in previous tournaments.

In addition to two days of fun-filled golf, the Club hosted a Social Hour beginning at 5:00 p.m., and served the participants their choice of either a Steak or Shrimp Dinner following play on Saturday.

The next tournament scheduled at the Greenville Country Club is the Club Championship Tournament scheduled for Oct. 11 and 12.

This tournament, available to Club Members Only, will have a new format this year of having the regular Club Champion determined and of having a Senior Division Club Champion determined for those Golfers over 60 years of age.

All Club Members are asked and encouraged to participate in “your” club championship.
