SARAH ALICE SASSER MCCHARGUE

MCCHARGUE, Mrs. Sarah Alice Sasser, 71, a resident of Columbus, Ga., and formerly of Brantley, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at the Weeds Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Hawkins officiating. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey McChargue; two children, Ailesa (Andre) Pagan and Rickey (Trudy) McChargue, all of Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren, Misty Grove, Adrian and Gabriel Pagan and Jamie McChargue; three sisters, Mary Southard, Ruby (Pete) Mansfield and Audrey (Wendell) Flowers, all of Brantley; and four brothers, Max Sasser, H.J. (Georgina) Sasser, Winston (Loretta) Sasser and Henry (Mynise) Sasser, all of Brantley.

Active pallbearers were Jeffrey Gulley, Daniel Gulley, Rocky Mansfield, Shawn Mansfield, Tyler Sasser and Bobby Sasser.

JEAN BOZEMAN

PATTERSON

PATTERSON, Mrs. Jean Bozeman, 72, a resident of Luverne, died Friday, September 19, 2008. Funeral services were held Monday, September 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Luverne First Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Burns officiating. Interment followed in the Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.H. “Pat” Patterson; a daughter, Lynn Patterson Deppen; and her parents, T.V. and Myrtle Bozeman. Survivors include four children, Debra Jean (Robbie) Prescott, James Keith (Diane) Thaggard, Rita Diane (Steve) Smith, and Mary Rene Price; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary B. Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Patricia Lynn Deppen Scholarship Fund at Troy University, Troy, AL 36081.

FLORENCE ELLIS BOOKER

Florence Ellis Booker passed away in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday, September 15, 2008. Born on May 10, 1923, she is preceded in death by her mother and father Ruth and Nolan Ellis of Luverne, Ala.

She is survived by her daughter Terry Ann and husband Barry Allison of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, James M. and wife Regina Allison and Jason E. Allison, of Birmingham, Ala.; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been made at Ridouts Roebuck Chapel in Birmingham. There will be no services or memorial.

WILLIE CHRISTINE TURNER MITCHELL

MITCHELL, Mrs. Willie Christine Turner, age 83, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at Sasser Church of Christ in Brantley with Jeff Grimes officiating. Burial followed in Sasser Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Ray Mitchell; brothers, Luell Turner and L.W. Mitchell; and sisters, Lurleen Gibson and Thelma Prescott. She is survived by five children, Willie Ray Mitchell, James E. (Barbara) Mitchell, Dorris Diane (Kyle) Wicks, Kenneth J. (Judy) Mitchell, and Deborah Tim (Scotty) Cain; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lighthouse Hospice of Troy, AL.

EAROLINE WALKER

Earoline Walker, 81, of Sebring, Fla., passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in Lake Placid, Fla. She was born March 9, 1927, to Pink and Willie (Simmons) Richburg in Luverne, Alabama, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1999, coming from New Britain, Conn. She was a lock worker in the lock manufacturing industry and retired from Emhart Corporation after 35 years of service. She was a missionary at the True Vine Church in New Britain, Conn., and a member of Spottswood AME Zion Church in New Britain. She was a member and Past Vice-President of Every Woman’s Club in New Britain. Mrs. Walker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and enjoyed cooking, baking and playing with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Newitt Walker, Sebring; daughter, Phyllis Denise (Patrick Lee) Hargrove, Sebring; son, Newitt Walker, III, Miami, Fla.; grandchildren, Newitt Walker, IV and Samuel (Stephanie) Arnell; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; several step-brothers and step-sisters and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilson, Howard, Lawson and Paul Richburg.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, the Rev. Mike Adams officiating. Interment of cremains will be held immediately following the service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, Fla. Arrangements entrusted to Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, Florida.
