More good games set for this week

After a couple of weeks of cupcakes (and a few cases of cupcakes fighting back), there are some good games this week.

For once, the biggest one doesn’t involve any SEC teams (Ohio State – USC).

At least, I hope that’s a good game.

Ohio State didn’t look that great against Ohio, and you can bet USC has put their week off to good use.

I hope this doesn’t turn out like that Oklahoma-USC national championship game.

I also hope I can do as well this week as I did last week in my picks.

Auburn at Mississippi State

Mississippi State hasn’t looked that great in the first couple of games so far this year, but let’s be honest – Auburn hasn’t been mind-blowingly awesome either.

You can bet the Tigers will have their guns loaded for MSU after the Dawgs upset Auburn last year at Jordan-Hare.

I think Auburn takes this one.

Auburn 28, MSU 17

Alabama vs Western Kentucky

Alabama was a little bit underwhelming last week against Tulane after that opening week beatdown of Clemson.

WKU is new to Division IA, but that doesn’t mean the Hilltoppers are a bad team.

As I recall, they gave Troy a pretty good game last year.

I think Alabama will look better this week, and won’t overlook a smaller opponent like they did against Louisiana-Monroe last year.

Alabama 35, WKU 13

Troy vs Alcorn State

Troy’s game last week against LSU got postponed, so the Trojans have had an extra week to prepare for Alcorn.

Despite that, I don’t think the Trojans needed the extra week of practice because Alcorn has had a rough couple of weeks to start the season.

Troy may start off a little slow, but I think they’ll pull away by the end of the game.

Troy 45, Alcorn State 17
