Fort Dale prepares for showdown with Glenwood

Following a romp over Prattville Christian, the Fort Dale Eagles will face a bigger challenge this week as they travel to Phenix City to face Glenwood.

Glenwood defeated Marengo 31-21, and the Eagles are preparing to have their hands full on defense.

“They had a lot of offense in the win over Marengo,” said head coach James Sampley. “They run a spread, and even a little bit of single wing.”

One thing that makes Glenwood dangerous is the caliber of players they have.

“They’ve definitely got some explosive players,” Sampley said. “We’re going to have to make sure we play assignment football, and also make sure we hustle.”

One area of concern for the Eagles is the health of quarterback Dustin Till.

Till left the game against Prattville Christian with a leg injury.

Till will be out this week with a bruise on his fibula and a twisted ankle.

X-rays showed a cracked bone, but it was determined that the crack was from a previous injury and existed before Friday night’s game.

“We just need to stay healthy and get better every week,” Sampley said.

The region opener against Glenwood is set to begin at 7 p.m. Friday night in Phenix City.
