Fort Dale Academy will be holding a golf tournament at Cambrian Ridge on July 28, and the proceeds will go toward expanding the athletic facilities at the school.

&uot;We’re trying to raise money to buy land for a new softball, baseball and tennis complex,&uot; said Ken Gibson, who serves as the athletic committee chairman.

&uot;It has been an annual event, but we moved it to the summer,&uot; Gibson continued. &uot;We’re trying to make it bigger.&uot;

The four-person scramble starts early, with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m., the driving range opening at 7 a.m., and the tournament starting at 8 a.m.

Players can either bring their own team or be assigned to one.

The entry fee is $100 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, free range balls, use of the practice green, a gift bag, a chance at door prizes, lunch and an awards ceremony.

&uot;There will be prizes given away to the top three teams, closest to the pin and longest drive winners,&uot; Gibson said.

Hole sponsorships are also available, which offer another way to contribute.

&uot;We’re hoping to get between 100-150 players and 25-30 sponsors,&uot; Gibson said. &uot;We’re trying to get local merchants and alumni to help sponsor, and I think we’ll have a great turnout.&uot;

The deadline for tournament registration is July 14.
